It is 2022! Here is a recap of what the Cohen Crew has been up to over the past year.

In case you weren’t aware, there is still a global pandemic going on. What this means is that we didn’t do anything too interesting. But in 2021 we did get to see family and it was great! Some visits were short and sometimes we managed a longer visit, but after a year of being apart, the ability to come together was wonderful. In September 2021, the stars aligned with vaccinations and testing protocols so that we could gather family and friends and finally celebrate the milestone of Ezra becoming a Bar Mitzvah back in November 2020. It was an amazing night of dancing and eating and being together - it felt so “normal”.

Other glimpses of “normal” from this past year was Summer 2021- Ezra and Levi were once again campers, and Karen and Shosh were again staff at Camp Ramah New England. Life in the camp bubble was sometimes hard as staff, but was glorious for the campers and overall a good experience for everyone. Jonah went on a teen tour with USY to Israel for almost 6 weeks and had a wonderful time. Jeffrey appreciated 4 weeks of calm and quiet when he could watch what he wants and work at off hours and can go through the house getting rid of things while everyone is away.

The fall and winter has seen a full return to school and activities ramping up for everyone - not fully “normal”, but approaching it. We have put off some celebrations, like for Karen’s milestone birthday, in hopes of finding a time when we might feel it safe again to do so.

Shosh turned 21 this fall and is a junior at Ithaca College. They are studying Therapeutic Recreation with minors in Dance and Deaf Studies. This spring they are directing the musical Shrek for their theater club on campus.

Jonah turned 18 and is a senior in high school, counting down the days until graduation. Jonah works at our local Staples Connect as a technology specialist. From home, Jonah is interested in content creation and streaming on Twitch and has been working to build his following. He has been saving to get a car in the near future.

Ezra is 14 years old and an 8th grader. Playing soccer is his passion and this Fall he was playing on three different teams - school, Town Travel and Club. Ezra is an avid fantasy sports fan, being involved with multiple fantasy sports leagues. He is looking forward to his 8th grade trip to Israel this Spring (really, really hoping that the trip happens).

Levi is 9 years old and in the 4th grade. Levi has joined Cub Scouts as a Weebelo this year and is enjoying the Daddy/Levi time and working towards his pins and badges. He was in his school production of Alice in Wonderland in the Fall and is planning to be in his school’s production of The Wizard of Oz this Spring.

Jeffrey is having fun and being challenged in his CIO role at Sonesta International Hotels. We haven’t been able to take advantage of employee discounts on travel so much, but are looking forward to checking out Sonesta in San Juan, just Karen and Jeffrey, later this month. We hope to have an opportunity to explore other Sonesta Hotels with the whole family in the near future.

Karen has been making pandemic life as normal as possible for the two and three year olds in her class. Teaching preschool has always been fun, but these days it is critical for kids to have social interactions, develop key early literacy and numeracy skills as well as be with peers and teachers. She is super thankful that with regular testing and wellness policies, that work feels like a safe and supportive environment.

Well, that is the news in a nutshell. Drop us a line to let us know what is going on with you and your crew. ;-)
